HISTORY-MAKING SLATE OF ALL-WOMEN OFFICERS OF NORTH AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF STATE AND PROVINCIAL LOTTERIES

Tuesday, 18 August 2020

“Today is a new day for our industry. It is especially gratifying as it comes on the 100th anniversary of my state, Tennessee, becoming the 36th state to ratify the 19th amendment, and creating the three-fourths majority needed to amend the U.S. Constitution and give women across the country the right to vote,” Tennessee Education Lottery President and CEO, World Lottery Association (WLA) President and WILL Founder and Chair Rebecca Paul Hargrove said.   “Ensuring gender equity brings valuable depth to an organization, adding a well-rounded voice to both internal and external discussions. This new slate of NASPL officers are exceptional leaders that set strong examples and inspire others to be the best they can be, and I am truly excited for what the future holds for our industry,” Hargrove added.

May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery, has been elected to chair the Powerball Product Group by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL).

Wednesday, 22 July 2020

"This is a challenging time for multi-state games, and I look forward to guiding this group in our strategic initiative to improve Powerball sales,” May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery, said. “We are committed to fully exploring a variety of possibilities – including a new add-on feature and additional draw days – to see how we can best enhance and advance ‘America’s Game.’”   “New games need to be flexible, scalable, simple, winnable and entertaining, as well as align-able with lotteries’ existing game portfolios,” she added. “My goal is to get a few states to start a new Powerball add-on game (“Double Play”), which meets that criteria, and add states as they are able to come on board. This will help create more regular Powerball play at lower jackpot levels.”

Tuesday, 14 July 2020

"Powerball is the number one product of the Multi-State Lottery Association and has successfully helped generate billions for good causes. Each member lottery offers one or more multi-jurisdictional game, and all profits are retained by the individual lotteries to fund projects or purposes approved by their authorizing legislatures. In Indiana alone it helps us contribute to police, firefighter pension fund and teacher’s retirement funds to the tune of $30 million each, said  Sarah Monnett Taylor, Executive Director of the Hoosier Lottery.”
